Consider playing sports while preparing for a STEM Career!

Category : Uncategorized

Athletes should strongly reconsider how they look at playing sports at junior colleges and smaller universities. These smaller institutions have very exciting and unique programs that prepare students for careers related to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). You don’t have to complete a four year degree to have a promising career paying over $50,000 per year. There is an ever growing need for middle-skilled workers due to a large middle-skills gap in the United States. To have access to these opportunities a student or student-athlete should have a good foundation in science and mathematics. This initial foundation is built during the K-12th grades. The foundation is strengthened in college. Most of the programs that teach middle skills to students in college can be completed in 2 years or less. Young student-athletes should look at this as a great opportunity to play college sports at smaller institutions, at the same time quickly acquire the necessary middle skills needed to be gainfully employed within 2 years in thriving STEM related careers.
